For prescriptions involving Schedule 8 substances (such as certain medicinal cannabis products), your healthcare provider will access your medical history via government real-time prescription monitoring systems. This safeguards patient safety and prevents misuse.

How long does my prescription last?

Prescriptions are generally valid for 3–6 months, depending on your treatment plan and the number of repeats approved. If your prescription expires before you’ve used all repeats, or if your treatment needs adjusting, you’ll need a follow-up consultation for a new script.

A referral from your GP is helpful but not essential. However, if your health records are incomplete, we may request a Health Summary from your regular doctor to ensure safe prescribing.
